Wood Ear Capsules (Auricularia auricula) for lack of energy, poor circulation, muscle spasms, and excess mucus. 50 #00 capsules.

Wood Ear Fruit body 3–8cm across, ear-shaped, gelatinous when fresh drying hard and horny, outer surface tan-brown with minute greyish downy hairs, inner surface grey-brown, smooth, or often wrinkled and ear-like. Spores white, sausage-shaped, 16–18×6–8µ. Basidia elongated cylindric with three transverse septa. Habitat on branches of frondose trees, usually elder. Season all year, especially autumn.

Auricularia has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine for the treatment of various ailments which include weakness after childbirth, cramp and numbness, for pains from injury or sound, obstruction in arteries and veins, numbness; for malignant dysentery, piles, and enteritis; for menorrhagia and leucorrhoea; for gastric disorder causing nausea and excessive phlegm; and in salve form for piles in the aged which will not heal.

There are reports on its effectiveness in reducing the blood glucose levels in KK-Ay mice that are genetically obese and have diabetic syndromes such as, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, glucosuria and severe insulin resistance. One study was only looking at the water-soluble polysaccharide extracted from the fruiting bodies of Auricularia and the other was looking at three different groups of polysaccharides all found in the fruiting body.
